Autumn is late this year. Many trees still have most of their leaves. The reason is that we have had a wet
summer and so there is more moisture in the ground than usual. Water always makes a difference. It is the lifegiving force of the world, and without it, everything would become a desert.
It is not by accident that Jesus used the symbol of water to represent the Holy Spirit. It is he who gives life. It is
he who sustains us. It is he who turns the desert into a garden (see Isaiah 35).
Each one of us needs the Spirit. He caused us to be born again and causes us to grow. He is a well of water
within us and he is a river that runs out of us. Drink deeply of the Spirit and you will not thirst again.
God bless. Richard
