In my family, May heralds the start of a season of birthdays. In quick succession we have my sister Vicki and my brother Tim’s birthday. On the same day, we have Carolyn’s sister’s birthday. Then, four days later we have Josh’s birthday followed after another four days by Emma’s birthday. Two days after that is my son-in-law Ben’s birthday. Less than two weeks later is my dad’s birthday, followed soon after by Carolyn’s birthday. This is an expensive time for all of us, but it is a time of celebration, even if this year it is also tinged with sadness.
It is good to celebrate the events that mark the passing of time. Each year, Easter, Pentecost and Christmas are such times of celebration. The worldwide church has started the commencement of the countdown to 2033 when it will celebrate the 2000th anniversary of the birth of the church at Pentecost.
May God continue to bless his church in the years to come, and may it continue to expand as we enter into this time of celebration.
God bless
Richard
